Nissan’s commitment to the environment

Nissan’s environmental philosophy is based on the reality of how our world is changing and how we plan to contribute to those changes. A core element of our strategy is the recognized need for environmental solutions, andfor solutions to embrace people, vehicles and nature. In the pursuit of a sustainable mobile society, the Nissan Green Program 2010 aims to reduce the environmental impact of Nissan vehicles at every stage of the vehicle life cycle, while corporate activities address environmental challenges.

Since our natural resources are limited, Nissan’s goal is to constantly improve our vehicles’ production standards. Our number one priority is reducing CO2 emissions and minimizing waste. So our plant has a high focus on efficiency and recycling. And in the development and design phase, the whole Nissan process is geared towards the most efficient possible use of materials. We look forward to a future when our models will be equipped with a sophisticated fuel efficiency gauge to give drivers more information on how their driving style directly relates to fuel economy. And Nissan aims to become a global leader in zero-emission vehicles. We will introduce an all-electric car in 2010 in the United States and Japan, and mass-market it globally in 2012. In the longer term, Nissan foresees a future based around a line-up of zero emission vehicles regardless of their size, category and usage – vehicles which satisfy your expectations while protecting the planet and its inhabitants.
